Bethany Hospital is a church-owned, non-stock, non-profit institution, governed by a Board of Trustees, and that service to all patients especially to indigents are subsidized by income from patients who can afford to pay. The hospital is not for personal profit or gain but for humanitarian and benevolent purposes. Savings are used for expansion, improvements, opening of new services, replacement or repair of equipment and in meeting the best quality standards in health care. For more than 95 years ago, the residents of Tacloban City and of the province of Leyte and Samar have turned to Bethany Hospital for its leading edge technology and excellent, attentive care. With 150 beds, Bethany Hospital has grown to become one of the largest tertiary care, teaching and referral hospitals in Region 8. The hospital treats nearly 10,000 inpatients, 30,000 outpatients and 16,000 emergency patients a year. Our medical staff consists of more than 150 physicians, representing different specialties. The teamwork and commitment to patient service among our primary and specialty physicians, and the more than 250 employees of Bethany Hospital, makes it unique among area health care providers. Yet for all its size and advanced expertise, Bethany Hospital hasn’t lost touch with its heritage. The hospital is recognized for delivery excellent health services, the same compassionate care that its Bethany Presbyterian founders delivered back in 1918.
